An individual who contaminated treats with sedative and provided them to minors at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual offenses against two young males both nine and 10.
The accused was taken into custody after eight youngsters and an older person experienced illness at the facility in the summer month.
The 76-year-old, from that region, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at Leicester Crown Court on the end of the week.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was charged with, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was held in detention before a additional proceeding on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, handling the case, described the defendant's actions to the legal proceedings.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were attending a summer program which he managed.
The man played a "candy game" with the children, Mrs Prior explained, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "over an extended period", and minors had earlier experienced illness the next day.
She said the man had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had suspicions in July 2025.
Mrs Prior KC stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had suspicions about the activities, with valid cause.
"They decided to examine in the defendant's belongings."
The legal counsel said materials including lubricant, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepchild alerted the law enforcement about his suspicions.
She said Ruben continued to engage in the "candy game" with six youngsters that time - Saturday 26 July - and they were everyone unwell the next day.
"Authorities" had not gone out by that stage," she continued.
The police watchdog, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was reviewing the police response of the events.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to their condition, so Ruben's stepson notified the authorities again.
She said the defendant then played the "candy game" in a area of five children.
