The highly-awaited Season 2 of the musical adult cartoon Hazbin Hotel arrives on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
The first season introduces a diverse group of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel fan obsession.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain themes emerge over and over: Could Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the mysterious "deal" affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her big-picture plan is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they may be surprised at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're anticipating happens this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," she adds. "We get some firsts. I think we get some really amazing disclosures, some fascinating origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about season 2 — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've already completed some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that makes me think we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel season 2 launches on the streaming service on October 29.
